Location: 1620 Sixth Line Rd RR #1, Dunrobin, ON K0A 1T0
Type: Casual, part-time contract, hourly rate of $15.81.
Preferred start date: Monday, May 01, 2023
Closing date: Friday, Jun 23, 2023

What you offer?

The YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region’s Camp Otonabee provides an opportunity for children and youth to engage in outdoor activities, discover nature and enjoy the natural environment, build self-confidence and establish lasting friendships. Campers aged 4 to 16 can experience canoeing, rock climbing, kayaking, swimming, horseback-riding and more.

The Kitchen Staff will function as a team member responsible for overseeing the function of the kitchen, ensuring that meals are delivered to campers and staff in a timely fashion. The Kitchen Staff must be courteous and professional in dealing with campers, staff and the general public, exemplifying YMCA-YWCA values and maintaining a high standard of work ethic.

Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • The tasks of this position are typically routine, and involve ensuring that consistency of predetermined operational guidelines are adhered to
  • Keeping up to date inventory of food and supplies

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:

Language

  • Fluent in English, oral and written
  • Bilingualism an asset

Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR “C” certification
  • Safe food handling certification an asset
  • Be self-motivating, enthusiastic and a responsible individual with strong leadership skills committed to the healthy development of children
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with program participants, members, staff and volunteers
  • Ability to give first priority to the campers’ needs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Committed to the healthy development of children

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • Criminal Reference Check for the Vulnerable Sector, not more than 6 months old is required
  • Annually all staff must complete the mandatory training for the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons, and submit the certificate of completion.
