First located on Canadian Pacific Railway lands, the Club moved in 1960 to the ancestral site of the Musqueam Nation’s winter village. Shaughnessy has served as the proud host of many prestigious events and notable figures in golf and tennis over these 100+ years. The Position:
Our Club is currently looking for a full-time permanent Assistant Food & Beverage (F&B) Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with the entire Food and Beverage team, in particular reporting to the Front of House Operations Manager to ensure a successful dining experience for our members. This prominent position supervises the Club’s dining operations, including indoor and patio dining and on occasion special events. Candidates must be flexible to work ‘hospitality hours’ based on business needs, including evenings, and/or morning shifts depending on schedule events and functions. This also includes holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the Front of House Operations Manager and Director of Food and Beverage to achieve annual revenue and expense targets related to Front of House
- Monitors, supervises and evaluates the daily operating procedures of set-up and maintenance of the restaurant, bar, patio, and grab and go outlets to ensure that they are up to standards
- Provides floor presence, supervision and leadership during peak periods of dining and events
- Ensures the execution of exceptional and personalized service from Front of House staff to all members and their guests
- Ensures that all member and employee policies and regulations are followed
- Assists with addressing members’ complaints and facilitates immediate appropriate action
- Assists with scheduling of all Front of House staff including supervisors, servers, bartenders, hosts, and event staff, ensuring alignment with service expectations and budget
- Assists with managing dining reservations through the Club’s online reservation platform
- Assists with training & development of Front of House staff
- Assists with all beverage and sundry-related inventory, receiving, and menu creation
- Assists with ensuring Point of Sale Systems are set up correctly with accurate and up-to-date menu items and pricing
- Assists with cultivating relationships with vendors and partners
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience in the upscale hospitality industry. Private club experience is considered an asset
- Valid Serving It Right Certificate
- A strong commitment to exceeding members/guests' expectations
- Has familiarity with variables affecting finances (budgets, labour management, productivity, revenue, and expense management)
- Product knowledge of wines, liquors, beers, and other beverages with experience managing inventory and ordering
- Good working knowledge of computers, including Excel and Word and other electronic applications. Experience with Jonas and OpenTable is considered an asset.
- A Sommelier designation or WSET is considered as an asset.
- Able to work under pressure during busy periods.
- Excellent organization and time management skills with the capacity to set priorities for self and others.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
Compensation and Benefits:
- Full-time, permanent position; Base Salary of $65,000+; based on qualifications and experience
