As a Packing Machine Operative it's your job to...
- Set-up, run, dismantle and clean Packing Machinery including flow-wraps, case erectors and automated end of line packing robots
- Housekeep the Packing Area to maintain focus on our ‘Safety First – For Us for Family’ culture
- Complete H&S tasks including a clean as you go approach, reporting of hazards and the following of all site procedures
- Maintain excellent Food Safety Standards at all times through identifying and reporting hazards, ensuring your area is GMP ready at all times, and following hygiene procedures
- Metal Detection challenges and associated paperwork
- Paperwork including downtime & waste recording and pre-use, tool & dispatch sheets
- Operate Hand & electric pallet wheels
What experience do I need to apply? We'd be open to speaking to individuals with little or no experience. However, it's really important that you...
- Are able to take and understand direction clearly and safely, carrying out any reasonable additional duties as and when requested
- Can work at pace but in a safe manner
- Have a good understanding of food safety and health & safety
- Can communicate well at all levels
- Are self-motivated, with high energy levels
- Can problem solve quickly and effectively when needed
Experience of working with metal detection machinery would also be desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK:
You’ll be based at our Grantham plant in Lincolnshire along with a team of approx. 130 other colleagues. You might not know, but here at McCain we also produce a range of fries called ‘Fries to Go’ – they’re made from mashed potato, are encased in their own special crisping compartment, and can be cooked in a microwave in just over 2 minutes – we are all about convenience at McCain!
The shift pattern for this role is an 8 week rotation and includes 12 hour shifts covering days, nights & weekends. Free transport from Grantham Town Centre is available on this pattern.
