JOB TITLE: Firewall Shift Engineer
SALARY: £45,054-50,060
LOCATION(S): Halifax
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site, Shift rota
About this opportunity
We currently have an opportunity to join a hardworking team dedicated to providing vital Checkpoint firewall protection to the organisations networks. As a Shift Member within of this team, you'll be key to implementing change requests, supporting the business through network incidence response and advising on the best course of action to achieve the goals of our internal business teams.
Your accountabilities will include;
- You can expect much of your time to be split between project delivery tasks and support work as we continually improve our offering to become the Best bank for Customers.
- Effective change management skills are expected to succeed in this position with a high number of changes being scheduled every day.
- You will be confident supporting incidents with guidance from the Shift Lead, requiring appropriate stakeholder management skills as a result.
- Working alongside senior team colleagues using your technical skills and problem solving ability to quickly resolve issues as they arise at any time.
Daily activities:
- Planning the implementation of sophisticated changes
- Delivering changes of all sizes and complexities for our customers
- Monitoring the estate and working with colleagues across the wider IT community to identify and close down service issues
- Incident response related to our Firewalls, fault finding and investigation of bank issues.
- BAU team tasks supporting daily operations of the team and business.
What you’ll need
For this role, the key areas are the following.
- Technical capability, shown through being CCSE/CCSA certified or qualified through experience with Checkpoint Firewalls. Ideally you would also have a range of wider Cisco Networks skills and knowledge.
- Larger enterprise environment experience, showing the ability to work being hands on with the devices to planning changes or working through control processes
- Good communications skills as well as being able to address technical challenges in what can be driven environments are also crucial
- Automation skills would also be advantageous!
And any experience of these would be really useful
Whilst not crucial to have previously worked in Financial Services, having knowledge of regulated environments would be favourable.
