We have an immediate opportunity for Admissions Coordinator
The Admissions Coordinator serves as the point of contact for the clinical assessment process. Assesses by phone the needs of patient, collecting data and assigning Clinical Liaison for field contact, coordinates all aspects of referral/admission processes and compiles referral/admission statistical data. The Admissions Coordinator is actively involved in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and LifeCare activities to ensure individualized, patient- centered health care for all patient populations admitted to LifeCare Hospital.
Patient Population: Has contact with patients in a non-clinical setting; understands and demonstrates appropriate behavior when interacting with patients in the adult (18-65 years of age) and geriatric (65 and older) populations.
- Responsible for all referral calls and handles each in a professional, enthusiastic manner; obtains all necessary demographics as well as clinical, financial, physician and family information at the point of referral to facilitate the assessment approval process. Demonstrates good clinical skills in assessing for clinical criteria in the admission process and projecting anticipated length of stay on potential patients.
- Assigns attending physician based on clinical requirements, to those patients without an admitting physician.
- Negotiates payor levels based on commercial insurance contracts.
- Conducts and coordinates family tours as needed, assuring that clinical, operational and financial questions are answered.
- Ensures that all required Admission and Registration documentation is completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinates and ensures eligibility and benefit verification and financial approval will be documented for all referrals to confirm financial viability of a possible admission and ensure the patient has sufficient benefits to cover their anticipated stay.
- The knowledge and skills necessary to perform the position requirements are demonstrated through the successful completion of competencies established for the position, to include population served, and other special needs of patients or customers, served by the department.
- Adheres to LifeCare policies, procedures, all safety plans, and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations.
- Regular attendance and timeliness is required.

Requirements
Experience: Minimum of one to two years experience in clinical assessments required, including previous experience in intake, business development or managed care. Experience in an acute-care setting preferred.
Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
Licensure/Certification: RN or LPN/LVN license in state where currently practicing is required. All Admissions Coordinators must maintain current licensure while employed with LifeCare Hospitals.
