As the Fire Safety Officer, you will, through excellent work ethics, support management to provide direction, ensuring Watford Community Housing is fully compliant in all areas of fire safety. What’s the role?
The right candidate will be responsible for providing a clear, consistent and quality fire safety capability, on a strategic and operational level to all Watford Community Housing stock.
You will ensure Watford Community Housing exceeds both statutory and non-statutory fire safety responsibilities in relation to legislation and associated building regulations, and you will provide a professional best practice advisory service, embracing all areas of fire safety management.

Essential
- A fire risk assessment qualification to a minimum of NVQ Level 4, or equivalent acquired learning
- Completed the following fire safety courses at the Fire Service College (or equivalent training):
- Fire Safety Foundation Theory/Practical
- Fire Safety Legislation & Risk Assessment Auditing
- Expert knowledge on fire safety, legal compliance, changes in building regulations, policies and best practice
- Ability to develop and implement fire safety emergency plans and procedures for all residential, commercial and workplace premises
- Ability to form close working relationships with external enforcement bodies, partners including Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, and internals colleagues to provide technical advice and support on all aspects in relation to fire safety
- Demonstrable experience in dealing with High rise properties
- You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car with business-use insurance.
- You will maintain a satisfactory basic DBS.
A background knowledge in social housing would be a distinct advantage.
