Responsibilities

GLBA is the Investment Banking division of SGCIB. It offers a global advisory approach focused on strategic dialogue with clients. GLBA offers clients the whole range of services offered by SG CIB and the Group, with a particular focus on investment banking and commercial banking activities. GLBA provides tailor-made solutions to corporate, financial institutions, the public sector and family offices.

The Financial Sponsor Coverage Group (FSC) is a global group. It was created in 2001 to build on the dynamic growth of private equity and with a view to employing the Bank's extensive experience and wide-ranging capabilities in the leveraged buy-out market. A Financial Sponsor is another name for a private equity investment firm. Private equity has attained an evident maturity and Financial Sponsors have evolved into major players in the financial industry. They have also become key clients of SG CIB, generating substantial NBI every year across multiple product lines.

The FSC Group covers traditional private equity firms as well as infrastructure funds, both standalone and within traditional private equity firms. They provide business lines within SG CIB with access to the financial sponsor clients' deal flow, and also assist in cross-selling all of SGCIB's key products to financial sponsors by providing expertise in: Mergers & Acquisitions, Leveraged Finance, Project Finance, Asset Finance (including transportation and real estate), Equity and High Yield Capital Markets, Reserve Based Finance, Trade Finance, Securitisation, Derivatives & Fixed Income, FX Hedging, LBO Closing and Cash Management.

By bringing all the Bank's capabilities and firepower to key financial sponsors, the FSC team's ambition is to make SG CIB a major player in the private
equity and private credit markets.

The team is composed of Senior Bankers and Senior Relationship managers who are assigned a portfolio of clients and whose primary operational responsibilities are to:

  • Manage the overall client relationship in order for SG to be seen as a long-term partner
  • Build network across C-suite, decision-makers, dealmakers and facilitators
  • Understand client requirements, identify gaps in coverage, and work with front office salespeople to pitch suitable solutions and services
  • Develop detailed client plans to establish pipeline opportunities/ priorities for resource planning
  • Promote cross-selling, diversify revenue streams to support sustainable long-term business flow
  • Support business lines on risk related issues.

As part of this business and client-driven coverage organization (GLBA/FIG/FSC), you will be working closely with Senior Bankers and Relationship Managers. Your missions will be the following:

Bring support during the whole life cycle of the client relationship:

  • Provide presentations, pitch documents, client information and research, press review and all other material needed by bankers for client meetings, deal negotiation and management reports
  • Conduct industry research including peer’s analysis, sector/country studies
  • Write Briefing Notes for Senior Management
  • Participate to client contacts and meetings when asked by bankers
  • Conduct internal reviews and follow up action plan per client/portfolio: analyse business potential and cross selling opportunities, participate in meetings with salespeople to identify the opportunities/gaps
  • Write FSC support memos on transactions involving FSC clients
  • Monitor Market trends and track client performance
  • Support the origination and the structuring of unsecured financing transactions (“CBA”) for PE firms

Contribute to the monitoring of client profitability and counterparty risk:

  • Track and forecast the NBI generation and RWA consumption on all Sponsor clients covered by the UK team
  • Update and maintain client reference tables in internal referential and CRM systems
  • Ensure that Back-Office teams book the transactions in accordance with all the terms of the contract signed with the clients

Participate actively in the development of the FSC franchise:

  • Optimise the existing systems and processes in place
  • Develop relationships across the bank’s full range of business lines and products to effectively gather and relay client information;

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

  • Graduate with a Master degree from Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Finance
  • A previous experience in Banking/Private equity would be appreciated
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient/Good command of MS Office
  • Excellent knowledge of Finance concepts and Finance related products
  • Good understanding of the Financial Sponsors market
  • Able to coordinate multi-products pitch and execution
  • Capable to assist in the development of structured marketing plans
  • Strong command of English in an international deal-making environment
  • Strong commitment to the job, hardworking, ability to deliver under demanding conditions
  • Shows initiative and curiosity, is proactive
  • Shows team spirit / partnership actively participates in team building and group overall harmony

The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Financial Sponsors Coverage is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.
In case a visa is necessary, please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure.
The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information (including your financial indemnities), please see Mon VIE-VIA Business France.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact there that your VIE mission could potentially get postponed, depending on the evolution of the health crisis and subjects to the decision made by the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE). In addition, the selected candidate will only be paid upon confirmation from Business France and arrival in the country of assignment.
