Job description

About us

We are a leading provider of General Insurance and Financial Services. From our strong farming roots, we’ve grown to become a UK-wide organisation, turning over £1billion annually. Yet success hasn’t gone to our heads. We’re proud to remain completely customer focused, down-to-earth, and committed to the rural communities we’ve grown from.

Our ethos - of trust, respect, and personal service - lies at the heart of all we do and has seen us build an enviable reputation for exceptional member loyalty. Though we’ve been in business for over 110 years, we have big ambitions for the future. And that’s why we’re looking for talented people to join our growing organisation.

Our Award-Winning Graduate Schemes are an investment in you and your career. You'll gain a rewarding balance of on and off the job learning and hands-on experience, through a structured and insightful training programme; and we'll support you to complete a number of professional qualifications too, helping you sharpen up the skills you need to progress in your chosen career path.

The three-year graduate programmes are designed to actively help you develop and give you everything you need to shape a rewarding career. You'll be supported at every step of your journey, with a dedicated buddy and mentor on hand to guide you, as well as a great network of current and previous graduates.

And it’s not all work. We actively encourage our graduates to participate in extra curricular activities aligned to our Environmental, Social, Governance framework, be that volunteering, participating, and organising charity and social events, and representing the organisation at external events, to name but a few.

The Role

Looking for an opportunity to grow with a successful company, enjoying on-the-job learning and gaining professional qualifications whilst adding value to the business? Then, look no further. Our Professional Trainee Scheme is a real investment in you. With ambitious plans ahead here at NFU Mutual, we’re looking to find and develop individuals who have the potential to shape the future of our £billion, award-winning organisation.

This could be to become a Financial Adviser here at NFU Mutual, preparing you to discuss and provide financial planning options with our customers to help them plan for the future or to support our Financial Services aspirations in other key roles.

During the three year scheme you will experience placements throughout the Financial Services business. This will involve working as part of our telephone based sales team, which will build up your product knowledge and develop your sales techniques. You will also spend time shadowing Financial Advisers and experiencing time in departments that will give you insight to the strategy of the Financial Services business.

Our Financial Services Professional Trainee Scheme is designed to give you practical experience as well as the technical expertise required to become competent and successful by:

  • Developing an understanding of how different parts of the organisation operate

  • Developing an understanding of how Financial Services operates

  • Building thorough knowledge and experience of how the Agency Network supports Financial Services

  • Developing relationship management skills, through managing multiple stakeholders from a range of different business areas
