Job Title: Financial Analyst – Loan Valuation & Advisory
Location: London – Henrietta House
CBRE are seeking a full-time financial analyst to join our Loan Advisory division and be part of our growing loan valuation business. The successful candidate will focus on the delivery of valuation of debt instruments secured by commercial real estate in accordance with IFRS. You will be supporting banks, financial institutions, and private debt funds in valuing their loans at various levels of seniority in the capital stack.
Working directly with clients and as part of a wider team of commercial real estate loan specialists, this is an excellent opportunity for someone with a basic understanding of commercial real estate lending and financial modelling to develop and learn from subject matter experts in credit risk management.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Produce loan valuation reports.
- Setting-up, updating and analysing loan valuation models in Excel.
- Prepare overviews of the key terms of the loan documentation.
- Liaise with colleagues in the Debt & Structure Finance team to determine base-line market pricing for similar debt instruments backed by similar properties.
- Undertaking credit risk assessment of the loans.
- Proactively execute relevant administrative tasks such as loan onboarding and maintaining pipeline tracker.
Person specifications/requirements:
- Strong academic background with bachelors or post-graduate degree, preferably with a specialisation in finance, mathematics, law and/or real estate.
- Must have a minimum of 18 months experience working with commercial real estate debt.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel modelling skills, including understanding of financial functions (NPV, IRR, etc.), and ability to modify and run sensitivity analysis on loan valuation models.
- Able to interpret commercial real estate loan facility agreements, intercreditor agreements and security documents.
- Self-motivated, proactive and enjoys working autonomously and as part of a wider team.
- Have an exceptional attention to detail, demonstrating a professional and client-focussed approach to work.
- Excellent analytical skills (commercial and financial) and communication skills (written and verbal).
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of commercial real estate lending and typical deal structures; as well as take ownership of tasks and work independently, always ensuring efficient delivery of instructions and a high standard of service to clients.
