At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work. The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday. However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.
Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.
Role
This role has responsibility of all Honda Finance Europe (HFE) accounting systems and to ensure that all systems are operating effectively and accurately. The role plays a key part in all areas of audit, for both the external financial audit and numerous internal audits covering SOx and ITAC controls.
As someone with both accounting expertise and a good knowledge of financial services systems, you will be expected to represent HFE Finance and Treasury team in all systems related matters working closely with both internal and external teams.
This role will help ensure that HFE is compliant in all areas of audit and ensuring that the Financial Statements are completed within the desired deadlines.
Main Responsibilities
Statutory Accounts and Audits:
- Drive the interim and year end Financial Audit with KPMG. Act as first point of contact and ensure all items are delivered to auditors on time and accurate. Liaise directly with auditors for data mining and extraction of supporting contracts to answer audit questions.
- Assist the Financial Controller Dept Manger with delivery of the Statutory Accounts and ensure compliance with all Accounting Standards and IFRS’s.
- Liaise with Honda Motor Europe Business Administration department (HME-BA) to ensure alignment of approach.
SOx and other Audits:
- Act as first point of contact during internal and external audits affecting Finance and Treasury depts. Participate and provide walkthroughs where required for all external and internal audits.
- Ensure all Risk and Control Matrix’s are current and reviewed annually and are relevant to Finance and Treasury systems for SOX and ITAC Internal Audits.
- Deliver HFE SOx compliance with regards to Finance systems and work closely with compliance dept to ensure delivery.
System Accounting:
- Continuously monitor and review all Finance and Treasury systems to maximise efficiencies and ensure the best systems are in place for the nature of the business.
- Developing solutions alongside the HFE Business Solutions Team that strengthen Finance and Treasury systems whilst maintaining alignment with other HFE systems in terms of application support.
- Responsible for maintaining and enhancing the systems infrastructure, by proactively engaging with the team and the business to identify new system and process improvements.
- Review all finance system faults and change requests raised. Make recommendations to correct such faults in order to prevent future recurrence.
- Assist with UAT in conjunction with the Finance Team. Defect management including raising faults, analysis of faults, prioritisation, liaison with external suppliers, test and release planning and updating Quality Centre. Manage functional and regression testing with the Test Manager to ensure full coverage of testing is achieved.
- Recommend departmental process improvements and effectiveness through TQM (Total Quality Management) principals, leveraging systems knowledge to achieve efficiencies.
Relationship management and adhoc:
- Act as the Finance & Treasury point of contact for all systems support, along with liaising with internal departments and external suppliers, e.g Logicalis, Wallstreet, Bacs, SAP.
- Liaise with IT / External Consultants to prepare and develop new reports on MicroStrategy as required for reporting and audit purposes.
- To fulfil ad hoc requests for data queries and analysis, which require a level of expertise beyond the business users.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Required:
- Fully or Part Qualified ACCA / CIMA or equivalent professional qualification
- Experience of Financial Services systems – in particular SAP
- Proficient in the use of Excel
- Strong investigation and problem resolution skills
- Task driven with accurate, timely and auditable approach
- Ability to work with other depts, a good clear communicator with ability to drive solutions
Desirable:
- Experience in both internal and external auditing
- Strong understanding of Accounting Standards – in particular IFRS9
- MicroStrategy Systems experience
