Financial Accounting Team
Within the Financial Services team, we provide an integrated financial accounting service for the Board, comprising three main Acute Hospitals, Old Age, Mental Health and Learning Difficulties Hospitals and all health centres within the region.
The Role
The Financial Accountancy Assistant will report to the Financial Accounting Manager, and be responsible for responding to queries and processing endowment funds income and expenditure transactions. This will include, banking income, payment of suppliers, and ensuring expenditure is approved at the appropriate Endowment Committee as set out in the endowment policy. They will be responsible for updating individual fund records for all transactions and reconciling this to the general ledger, assisting the Financial Accounting Manager with monitoring the fund balances against the budget and highlighting any areas of concern. They will also assist with providing accurate and timeous financial reports to the Financial Accounting Manager, fundholders, and service managers throughout NHS Lanarkshire as well as assist with the endowment annual accounts process, ensuring all documentation is collated and provided to external auditors. In addition, the Financial Accountancy Assistant will assist the Financial Accounting Manager and wider Financial Accounting Team as required. The postholder must be able to work with minimum supervision, assisting with maintaining systems, procedures and controls for all aspects of the Endowment Fund transactions working to strict monthly reporting deadlines.
Qualifications
The postholder should have working knowledge, skills and experience equivalent to HNC level.
