Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank. Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2023 and beyond, we are currently seeking several experienced Leaders to join HSBC Technology.
Role Description
The Financial Relationship Manager (FRM) is part of the MSS IT COO function, which supports the operations of MSS IT Asset Classes. The FRM team provides a Financial Management service globally to our MSS IT department ($1bn+ cost base; 7000+ people). The Financial Relationship Manager is responsible for delivering excellence in Financial Management, cost governance and control for the MSS IT Executive team, Asset Class CIO and Business stakeholders. To act as a trusted finance partner to help IT achieve operational and strategic success through provision of financial management information, forecasting and decision-support cost analytics
Responsibilities
- IT Stakeholders - the FRM partners with senior IT management (CIO) and the MSS IT COO Senior Business Management (SBM) team to provide oversight and support for all finance matters in IT.
- Business/Finance Stakeholders - the FRM forms part of a virtual team with the business and SBM, owning the provision of IT cost reporting and articulating key messaging through monthly and ad-hoc reviews with business and finance counterparts (COO, CFO).
- IT Transformation - providing financial support to the IT Transformation agenda.
Other
- Dedicated financial advisory to IT Asset Class, including all financial reporting and MI needs for recovery charges and direct costs
- Preparation of ad hoc cost analyses, commentaries, trend analysis and presentation to senior stakeholders
- SME on all financial tools, cost processes, governance and controls within IT COO
- Lead for all IT COO finance matters associated to re-orgs and business (funding) boundary changes
Essential Skillset/Experience
- Experienced Finance professional, with proven track-record of senior stakeholder partnering/advisory
- Strong analytical background
- Accounting qualification (CA, ACA, CIMA), or equivalent
- High degree of financial acumen, with extensive experience in financial planning/forecasting, ability to distil large complex sets of data, prepare summarised and insightful analysis and present to senior management
- Strong customer-centric focus, with proven ability to rapidly build relationships, trust and credibility with senior management and senior stakeholder groups
- Organised, disciplined and understands the importance of accuracy and integrity of data
- Articulate and able to influence decision-making and negotiate with senior stakeholder groups
- Resilient and delivery focused, with an ability to work under pressure to adhere to strict deadlines
- Ability to rapidly adapt to process change, portfolio reprioritisation and manage simultaneous tasks in a pressurized environment
The role will be based in Edinburgh, but some travel may be required. This role supports Hybrid working
