Phoenix: The Agency is a talent agency based in East London, we are a female-owned small business seeking an experienced part-time Finance Manager. This is a stand-alone role, working closely with the Founder and the Accountants. The key role is the day-to-day management of all finance operations; however, we are seeking candidates who are interested in shaping the finance function as the business goes through a period of growth and change.

You need to be comfortable making decisions with autonomy and taking responsibility for the finance function, be passionate about efficiency and optimisation, and be excited to get stuck in with the team and the all-hands-on-deck attitude of growing a small business. This is our first in-house finance role, ready for an ambitious and entrepreneurially minded person to implement efficient processes, ensure smooth running of all things finance, and assist in driving our strategic goals.

Role overview

Part time (open to define schedule with the right candidate)

Report to Director/Founder

Start date: Sept 2023

Salary based on experience

We are looking for a positive, detail-oriented self-starter to join our small but mighty team

Must have 2 years experience in a finance role and full/part qualified

This is a hybrid role, currently 1-2 days per week/as needed in London office but flexibility is required as this may increase as the role and business grows

Key Responsibilities

Accounts payable - managing budgets and executing payments

Accounts receivable - client communications, invoicing and reconciliations

Expense management for bookings and for the team

Provide monthly and quarterly reports and insights to director to drive strategies

Prepare various financial reports, statements, and summaries as needed for internal and external stakeholders

Identify opportunities to optimise financial processes and implement these effectively

Ensure all financial activities comply with relevant UK laws, regulations, and company policies

Manage all finance related communications with clients, models and the team

Assist accountants with VAT returns and bookkeeping

Oversee payroll

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A relevant master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus.
  • Proven experience in finance management and accounting in a small B2B company is essential as you will be expected to hit the ground running and work together to define the full scope of this role as we grow
  • Solid understanding of payroll processing, bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, compliance, and auditing principles
  • Knowledge of relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements, ideally in an agency environment
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and spreadsheets
  • Experience with Xero preferred
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with the team remotely and in person, and manage model and client communications effectively
  • Organised and self-driven, confident working independently and comfortable taking responsibility for the finance function in a small businessPhoenix The Agency is seeking a Finance Manager to join our team in London.
