Grand Central is an open-access train operator linking the North East and West Yorkshire with London. We are also part of Arriva who have a large and diverse portfolio of train and bus operating companies in the UK and Europe.
What will I be doing as a Finance Manager?
Reporting into the Financial Controller you will work closely with the Business Finance and Business Development Director across the company. Duties will include but not limited to;
- Management of the Grand Central’s finance team to ensure it meets the needs of its stakeholders
- Overseeing the delivery of all financial planning, reporting, control and compliance activities.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory, and contractual requirements
- Identify initiatives to improve cash flow, margins, and reporting
- Management of the annual external audit process, liaising with auditors and ensuring timely completion of the stat and tax packs
- Demonstration of positive leadership culture with a focus on ownership, accountability and involvement in decision making.
What will I need to be successful as a Finance Manager?
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA or equivalent) with post qualification experience in senior finance roles
- Detailed business understanding and a proven track record in financial accounting, planning, analysis and reporting
- Experienced people manager
- Proven experience of managing audits
Desirable Skills:
- Working knowledge of company financial systems, including Oracle and HFM/TM1/GTC
- Knowledge of the rail industry would be beneficial
