The Postdoc Academy (PdA) is looking to appoint a Finance Coordinator to support the running of the departmental finances. The role holder will work closely with the Deputy Head. The role is being offered at 0.6FTE (equivalent to 22 hours a week) and consideration will be given to requests for the hours to being worked across the week.

This is an exciting opportunity to join PdA's small and dynamic team. Established in 2013 and originally known as the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, PdA is the lead organisation for postdoctoral matters in the University. It provides a range of support to postdocs including professional development, advocacy on national and HE policy and pastoral support. PdA offers postdocs a range of established programmes and activities, and continues to develop its provision in new and exciting ways.

The role will support the efficient running and administration of all financial matters for the department including preparing of supplier invoices, setting up new suppliers in accordance with Financial Procedures, raising income invoices, working with research grants, preparing regular financial reports (month-end, half-year and year-end) and analysing data for presentation to senior management and programme managers.

This role will suit someone who is proactive, enthusiastic, able to work equally well independently, and as part of a tight team. They will have high levels of numeracy, accuracy and a very strong attention to detail. They will have experience in using Oracle Financials or similar, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Applicants will have demonstrably excellent written and spoken interpersonal and communication skills.

The role is varied and each day will look different: from supporting high profile projects to ensuring the departmental budget versus expenditure is accurate and up to date.

The closing date is 11.59pm on Sunday 11th June. In-person interviews are expected to take place at the Postdoc Centre @ Eddington on week commencing 19th June.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
