About the team
The Financial Control Operations area is responsible for the integrity of all financial transactions within AEGON UK. This includes the processing of cash receipts, payments, to ensure the integrity of general and purchase ledgers for the operational businesses and any reporting breaches. The area performs financial reconciliations and reporting for inclusion in month end accounting & reporting.
About the role
This role undertakes the day-to-day activity of the operations department delivering a quality service for its stakeholders. This includes, processing a range of journals, performing reconciliations, preparing trustee cash books, financial analysis, intercompany accounting, banking, checking of ledger transactions & balances, to ensure that the financial accounting controls are operating as planned.
Partnering with key stakeholders across AEGON UK, external partners, and our global business units, developing strong working relationships to reduce financial risks & exposures in relation to key processes. Identifying accounting and process anomalies, investigating, and bringing to a resolution.

We offer on-the-job training; however, the following experience would be great – but not essential:
  • Experience of working in large finance team, preferably within Financial Services or other highly regulated environment
  • Experience of bank and control account reconciliations
  • Experience of bookkeeping and general ledger processes
  • An Accounting qualification or working towards ACCA/CIMA
  • Good PC skills, includes Excel, Word & PowerPoint
