Job description
Job Purpose: A very wide-ranging role, with significant influence on the direction of the company, the Finance and Strategy Associate will be responsible for driving understanding, decision-making, and analysis across all areas of the business and operations. A high impact role during a period of rapid growth and expansion, the Finance and Strategy Associate will be reasonable for ad hoc analysis and owning some ongoing processes, with heavy involvement in M&A and exposure to our private equity investors as well as significant exposure to and influence with the wider senior management team. The Finance and Strategy Associate will split their time between our Head Office site in Soho, and our Operations Centre in Park Royal in order to gain a deep understanding of how all aspects of the business are managed.
Key Accountabilities
- Financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting: This will include, as examples: owning the model and driving the process for the annual budgeting cycle, building the long term forecast to support strategic planning, driving understanding of performance of the business vs budget for improvements
- M&A and corporate development: This will include, as examples: supporting the CFO and management team through a private equity transaction, analysing and driving acquisitions and integrations for non-organic growth
- Analytics, Reporting and Instrumenting the Business: This will include, as examples: Development of dashboards and KPIs to help manage the business effectively, identifying key metrics and building confidence in data-driven decisions by managers
- Commercial and Market Analysis: This will include, as examples: performing market sizing estimates, identifying key industry trends, understanding and developing competitive strategies, understanding competitive positioning within given markets; analysing market share and competitive dynamics within given segments based on vague and / or incomplete data
- Operational analysis: This will include, as examples: Understanding utilisation of our fleet, and thinking through how to optimize usage, understanding profitability across different geographies, products or services, to better driver operational efficiencies and improvements.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
Behavioural Attributes
- Highly numerate, naturally inquisitive and deeply analytical - a master of Excel
- Undergraduate degree from a top tier university, preferably in a numerate discipline
- Professional work experience, likely in a professional services firm (e.g. management consulting, investment banking, corporate finance, accounting firm)
- Familiarity with PowerBI or similar is a plus, but in-house training will also be provided
- Motivated by learning and understanding new things, with an ambition and passion for knowing “how things work” or “why things happen”
- Excellent analytical, communications and presentation skills, both written and oral
- Ability to grasp the bigger picture and develop higher-level strategic insights from detailed numerical analysis
- Self-driven, with the ability to work in somewhat ambiguous and unstructured environments, with multiple competing priorities
