The role works within the Supply Chain and Logistics Finance team and is responsible for supporting the Logistics Consolidation and Controls team. This role is responsible for the management, integrity and accuracy of the P&L, in addition to building and maintaining a robust controls process. The job holder will provide insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders, aiming to influence and drive decisions and actions that improve the bottom line. This individual will support the Finance Managers and Senior Finance Managers in Logistics and the wider Finance team as required.
What you need to do
- Work with internal (Cost accounting) and external stakeholders to maintain integrity of the P&L
- Create and maintain a robust controls process to support the integrity of the P&L
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including story telling across both backwards looking and forward looking performance
- Support in embedding a no surprise culture, through process improvement, review and critical analysis
- Run and interpret management reporting to provide timely insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders
- Identify risks, anomalies and opportunities and flag these to Finance Manager / Senior Finance Managers for prioritisation
- Work with the wider Logistics Finance team, supporting the Business Partners, Insight & Analysis and Strategy teams
- Work with internal teams including FP&A, Cost Accounting, Supply Chain, and ADA as required to complete analysis to resolve business problems.
- In line with the timeline and process set by FP&A, work with the business to manage the period end process. This includes working with Cost Accounting to ensure P&L accuracy, analysing the period performance, and building the narrative behind the performance.
- Build business cases and support post implementation reviews
- Support the wider team on other Finance processes, such as budgets, LV, Q2F and forecasting as required.
- Attend business review meetings presenting to and supporting our Stakeholders as needed
- Review performance and challenge our 3PLs (3rd Party Logistics Partners) regarding costs and service
- Work with Cost Accounting/3PLs to ensure robustness of Balance Sheets and underlying assumptions
- Assist, where required, with audit deliverables.
- Success in this role will mean being able to deliver timely, robust and accurate analysis; translating data into valuable business insight, communicating all relevant financial and non-financial information when needed
What you need to know and show
- Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA), or studying towards qualification
- Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight and being able to clearly articulate this through your communication
- Strong commercial acumen
- To have a good track record of strong financial control, but also the ability to maintain such an environment
- Must have a strong eye for detail and accuracy
- Effective communicator with all levels of stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen
- Curiosity beyond traditional finance boundaries and ability to understand key business drivers
