The M&S Finance team plays a key role in setting the pace for our key business decisions, shaping budgets, analysing sales, managing costs and making sure our most vital statistics and data are absolutely accurate.
With a focus on adding new value to all business areas by helping them make data-driven decisions and understand what is driving commercial performance – it’s our job to make sure the right tools, processes, governance and ways of working are in place to support this.
The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team play a pivotal role, supporting the business in making critical decisions, and we're looking for a Finance Analyst to join this team. This is a brilliant opportunity for a strong communicator; someone who enjoys a varied role and who works with a continuous improvement approach. What you’ll do
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Preparation of regular and ad-hoc journals
- Delivery of accurate cost reporting and variance analysis - driving a ‘no surprise’ culture
- Support the FP&A team with monthly and quarterly reporting for the whole business.
- Responsible for budgeting/forecasting of your area’s leading to variance analysis and commentary to guide the business to make key strategic decisions.
- Driving an increased level of insight through reporting and analysis to challenge current assumptions, find opportunities and deliver business benefit
Who you are
Your skills and experience will include:
- Excellent communication skills working with senior business partners
- Outstanding partner management / business partnering skills with the ability to build relationships and influence partners at all levels
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking to enhance business decisions and potential risks and opportunities.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Experience of using SAP and BOARD (desirable)
