Java Developer
Glasgow
As a Barclays Java Developer you will be joining Fixed Income Financing Team within the Investment Bank Technology Macro area. In your new role, you will be responsible for the development and support of all iRepo/ XGEN Trading applications globally. The technology team works directly with repo traders, sales and other departments located worldwide, with the main Centre’s in US, EU and APAC. Systems supported are a combination of in-house development and third-party packages, using a variety of technologies.

What will you be doing?
• Taking ownership of the deliverables of each iteration as well as ensuring the scope of the project/ deliverables is well understood
- Effectively visualising and designing complex systems with good command over the relevant design patterns and concepts covering failover and resiliency
- Developing and supporting the trade capture platform for Repo Trading Platform
- Performing code reviews to ensure implemented functionality matches expectations and is in line with coding standards defined globally
- Co-coordinating the Quality Assurance team and the larger IT group in delivery of implemented features to production
- Interacting with front office users and operations for requirements/support
- Assisting the investigation and troubleshooting of production issues
- Playing an active role in mentoring/coaching/training and development of team members
What we’re looking for:
• Hands on experience on core Java Developer
- Solid skills in Object Oriented Analysis and Design Concepts, Java, Relational Databases
- Tech skills: Core Java, Restful services, Spring, Unix, Solace, Database
- Working knowledge of middleware platforms (Solace, IBM MQ)
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Significant experience developing high-performance software.
- Skill in Test Driven Development, Continuous Delivery and System integration
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes as well as development of containerized applications will be plus
- Background in financial markets
