The role

The NAP SACC UK (The Nutrition and Physical Activity Self-Assessment for Child Care) study is a multi-centre cluster randomised controlled trial evaluating an intervention in nurseries aiming to increase physical activity and healthy eating in 2-4-year-olds. The role of the fieldworkers will be to recruit participants and collect data from them (children aged 2-4 years) from nurseries across Somerset and Swindon.

The post-holder will be working within a dynamic team of fieldworkers, research site managers, trial co-ordinator and trial manager.

What will you be doing?

The post-holder will be required to undertake training in data collection methods in order to complete practical assessments with study participants, including measuring weight and height, giving out and collecting movement sensors (accelerometers) and recording meal serving size using remote food photography. The role will also involve administrative duties associated with data collection including entering data into the study database. Training will be held in person.

You should apply if

Suitable candidates must have previous experience of fieldwork (data collection), preferably with children in a school or nursery setting. They must be excellent communicators, well organised, capable of taking initiative as appropriate as well as working well in a team. They must hold a UK driving license to allow them to drive to nurseries across Swindon and Somerset. Previous experience of working with teachers/early years staff is desirable. The appointed person must be eligible for, or already have, enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
