Position Summary
This job is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.
A Field Engineer contributes technical and engineering services to key office and field personnel on construction projects. During initial assignments, the Field Engineer may be required to learn and perform all the duties of a Field Engineering Technician and Senior Field Engineering Technician. With experience, assignments may expand to require supervision of Inspectors, other Field Engineers, Field Engineering Technicians, Senior Field Engineering Technicians, and other similar field personnel.
This Field Engineer position will support the projects that are being built by the contractors. This will require the engineer to work closely with various contractors to execute the construction. Some essential functions of the position will require the engineer to review and evaluate a project for its constructability and scope, schedule the work, forecast contract costs, submit Application For Work (AFW) to de-energize circuits, review contract change orders, and close jobs with final As-Built. Additionally, the Field Engineer will use engineering expertise to solve any problems or help guide other team members to resolve any issues during construction of the assigned project. This might include performing field assessment and coordination with other utilities or internal departments. Other work includes material management, project tracking and monitoring of construction activities both in cost and schedule, creation of Contract Work Authorization (CWA) in SRM, and SAP update.
This position will work in both the field and office capacities, with occasional storm duty or storm response required. Travel within PG&E’s service territory at any time with little notice may be required.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreement, and internal equity.
