Your new role
This role will play a critical part of the Hitachi Rail IT team helping to support, build and maintain our diagnostic laptop estate. Reporting directly to the End User Computer Manager, the successful applicant will be based from our Newton Aycliffe site but would be required to travel to other UK sites to ensure that diagnostic laptop deployment is successful.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
- Day to day management and support of HRE Diagnostic laptop Fleet.
- Use the IT toolset to report and manage status of devices (SCCM, SNOW, Avecto, McAfee EPO)
- Create standard builds using SCCM/WSUS and maintenance of task sequences
- Work closely with train technicians to understand software configuration and usage
- Documentation of builds, software versions and configuration
- Coordination of application removal/deployment and update
- Liaison with Business Engagement and business managers and process owners to ensure ongoing IT requirements are fully satisfied
- Provision and support of localised diagnostic IT systems
- Working closely with other IT Management team members to ensure HRE IT strategy and approach aligns to Maintenance requirements and adheres to HRE IT standards
- To be aware of, and actively promote and implement Hitachi’s ethos, culture and values.

About you
It is our expectation that successful applicants should be able to demonstrate all of the experience and skills listed below:
Essential Requirements
- Fluent written and spoken English. Strong Interpersonal skills, ability to communicate to business managers
- Advanced level experience in providing 2nd line end-user support for a multi-site organisation (>2,000+ end users)
- Wintel hardware management – build automation using SCCM/WSUS/OSD
- Windows 10 – In depth knowledge
- Office 2016 – Advanced Knowledge
- Solid understanding and experience of administering the following:
- Microsoft Back Office Systems (Active Directory / Exchange / SCCM)
- Mobile Device Management (MobileIron)
- Remote Access systems
- Networking – DNS, DHCP, File sharing, Printing, LAN/WLAN
- Endpoint protection – anti-virus, anti-malware (McAfee)
- A high degree of competency in problem assessment and solving within an ITIL Support Service framework
- Extensive practical experience in supporting a complex environment of devices and business applications
- Familiarity with incident/request management systems (ServiceNow)
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with scripting and automation.
- Basic understanding of project management practices.
Qualifications
- ITIL v3 Foundation or equivalent experience
