Farm Manager

Based in North Lincolnshire, Kitchen Garden Produce is a grower and packer of shallots and asparagus for major supermarkets in the UK. We are a family run business looking for a hands on farm manager to oversee the crop production and storage and take an active and keen interest in the farm and the business as a whole, continuing our high standard of work in line with the ethos of the company and the owners. This is a varied role in a supportive and forward thinking business.

Essential:

· Practical experience and understanding of all farming operations including irrigation, tractors, machinery and soil types.

· Proven strong leadership skills and experience of people management

· Proven track record in successful crop production

· Keen interest in the growing, harvesting and storing of root veg and specialist crops

· Spraying qualifications

· Excellent communication skills

· Attention to detail

· Experience of audit compliance and the hosting of audits such as Red Tractor and Leaf

Desirable skills and attributes:

· Practical workshop skills

· Previous experience of root vegetable crop production

· BASIS and FACTS qualifications are desirable but not essential

Based on the main farm site in Lincolnshire but with a management role across numerous crop production sites including in Norfolk, your role will be to oversee, organise and partake in the day to day and year to year running of the farm. You will be dealing with all aspects of crop production and storage, agronomy, staff management, machinery operations, maintenance and the implementation of health and safety. This will also involve liaison with landowners and contractors.

Kitchen Garden Produce employs many staff and you will be responsible for organisation of tasks and people, aiming to get the best possible results from both the crops and the workforce. Excellent communication is required to be able to discuss plans and share information with the team to carry out the role in the best interests of the business and the owners. You will be required to work with other members of the management team to ensure the efficient running of the business. You will be working closely with and learning from the principle partner in the first instance, with an aim to take on increasing responsibility as your knowledge of the crops and the role develops. Attention to detail, a keen and positive attitude and people management experience are all very important.

Salary: From £50,000.00 per year
