Job description
We are recruiting for a farrowing house manager to become a member of our team on a 700 sow breed to finish batch system unit, based in East Yorkshire. We are a modern pig farming enterprise that has a forward-thinking team, with modern approach to pig farming with people and pigs as our core focus, here for the long term.
The role would involve being responsible for running our 4-week batch farrowing house prioritising the health and welfare of the department as well as being involved across the unit within other areas of the farm. We also conduct various trials on the unit some which come under the responsibility of the farrowing house.
Candidate Specifications:
- Does not need to have run a farrowing house before, preferably has some pig stockman/woman experience.
- Dedicated to working as a team.
- Works to high standards and achieving excellent results.
- Attention to detail.
- Prioritises welfare of pigs and the safety of individuals on the unit.
Holidays – 29 days per year including bank holidays.
One in three weekends will be worked.
Potential house available in local village open to discussion.
Salary will be subject to experience. Yearly bonus performance related.
