House Manager
London
£60,000-£80,000
We are looking for a House Manager with at least 10 years experience, to work for a family in London and the countryside.
The private household is busy and requires a House Manager who can lead, train, and manage a diverse team, but also someone who is hands-on and is prepared to turn their hand to any task to ensure the house, and the family’s needs and requirements, are met.
The role is London-based, however, regular weekly visits to the country property are normal (accommodation will be provided). Strong experience setting up systems/manuals and SOPs is imperative. This is a great opportunity for a House Manager to work for a fantastic family and to join a cohesive team of professionals.
This role will be mostly House Management, but will involve some PA responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Household management, including administration pertaining to running a household
- PA duties will include accounting, scheduling, rotas, travel bookings, vehicles (tax, registrations, MOT, insurances, etc.), diary management, and general administration
- Concierge duties
- Regularly interacting with principals to maintain direct communication and compliance with their needs
- Maintaining inventory of all furnishings and equipment in the house, including ordering replacements when needed
- Writing of household manuals and policy documents for Employer’s approval
- The maintenance and upkeep of all of the family’s UK homes
- Engaging and overseeing the outcome contractors, service providers and suppliers
- Implementation and development of systems and processes inside the houses
- Oversee construction projects and liaise with project managers and designers
- Supervising and training household staff and overseeing staff schedules; must be prepared to undertake hands on housekeeping duties
- Oversee the hiring of Private Staff
- Ensure all staff are trained on principals routines and preferences
- Conduct household staff performance management reviews
- Ensure efficiency, harmony, and high morale throughout the household team
- Hold monthly staff meetings with a focused agenda and ensure follow up of all action points
- Coordinating deep cleans when principals are away
- Valeting/wardrobe management
- Silver service hosting
- Antique and fine furniture experience
- Running personal errands
- Stock organising and ordering
- Occasional travel with the family
- Looking after guests
- Overseeing private events

Duties:
- Oversee the daily operations of a household, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
- Manage and supervise household staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance and repairs of the property
- Manage household budgets and expenses, including bill payments and financial record keeping
- Plan and coordinate events and special occasions held at the residence
- Maintain inventory of household supplies and ensure they are stocked as needed
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the residence at all times
- Handle any issues or emergencies that may arise in the household
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role as a House Manager or Household Manager is preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with staff, vendors, and other members of the household
- Knowledge of household management best practices, including cleaning techniques, maintenance procedures, and event planning
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when dealing with sensitive information or situations
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
