Welder / Plater
Steel Fabrication
Location – Barnsley
Due to the increase in long term orders we are recruiting for a number of positions on a permanent basis. We have available opportunities for Welders/Platers to join an established in-house fabrication team, contributing to the ongoing and growing workload on steel fabricated structures for projects around the UK.
Business Unit
The AmcoGiffen in-house fabrication team is one that has gone from strength to strength in recent times establishing itself over the last 3 years with ongoing plans to build on recent success and continue growth and development of the business unit. This is a key area of the business, offering fabrication expertise both to the internal business units nationally as well as continuing development of key external clients and exploring new client/contractor opportunities around the country.
With an amass of capability to fabricate heavy steel structures, the fabrication team have ambitious plans to make itself known in the market as a specialist steel fabrication business unit offering.
The Company
You will be joining a reputable and firmly established, engineering contractor operating nationally in rail, civils and engineering markets. AmcoGiffen are renowned in the market as a specialist civil, building, mechanical and electrical renewals and maintenance business with ongoing and successful projects and frameworks across the country, you will become part of our expert outfit.
The Role & Requirements
Specific duties for medium / heavy fabrication, bench work and repairs.
- Understanding of fabrication skills and techniques, for various metal types (steel/stainless steel).
- Understanding and ability to read fabrication drawings.
- Ability to handle heavier components with mechanical aids / cranes and mitigate manual handling.
- Perform tasks in varied environments, predominately workshop / workbench based, however elements of working.
- On site which may involve working at height and /or in confined spaces as required.
- Safe and efficient operation of hand tooling, power tools and other machines.
- Adhere to good housekeeping practices and maintain a clean, organised and hazard-free work area.
- Adhere to all company policies, including Health and Safety and PPE.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the company.
Candidates will be required to complete a weld test as part of the interview process
