BBC
Full Time Leeds, England 10.56 - 12.04 GBP Today
Job description

Job Introduction

BBC Radio Leeds is one of England’s largest stations. We work in one of the busiest and most diverse areas of the country, with a dedicated team of journalists and programme makers who regularly produce award-winning content. Presenters are distinctive and our news and sports teams deliver original and creative journalism. Local is at the heart of what we do and communities are key as we strive to be more relevant in an ever-changing West Yorkshire – this means increasing our digital offering to reach people who don’t listen to the radio.

As Executive Producer, you will work with the Executive Editor to ensure that Radio Leeds is aligned to the Local Radio strategy and that the team fully understands, what that means for the way they work. This is a role for someone who loves radio, embraces digital and has a real understanding of audiences with the drive and ambition to make the station number one in our market. Main Responsibilities

The Executive Producer role is wide-ranging and combines the strategic with the operational.

You will work closely with the Executive Editor, providing support in the overall management and development of the station and its staff, and have a number of day-to-day responsibilities which will include the line-management of some teams.

You will take a lead role on station campaigns and one-off projects and be comfortable driving forward new ways of working and collaborating with other departments.

You will lead our teams to create new and innovative digital content as we move away from just linear output and attract new and harder to reach audiences. Are you the right candidate?

You’ll have a strong track record in production – in linear or digital and will have worked on initiatives to attract new audiences.

You should be able to demonstrate strong leadership and clear direction with experience identifying, mentoring and developing new talent and have the ability to bring the best out in others with a flexible and collaborative approach.

You will harness a culture of fairness, collaboration and inclusivity and have the ability to give constructive feedback to get the most from your teams.

You’ll need strong editorial judgement and an instinct for ways to reach different groups within the local audience.
