DEFINITION:

The Medical Assistant function as a vital member of the healthcare team who is self directive in initiating work and other responsibilities and contributes to the success of the clinics by demonstrating customer/patient focus, effective communication, professionalism, and teamwork. This position is accountable for health promotion and illness prevention of patient populations through nursing assessment and patient education. Performs the Medicare preventive visits under the direct supervision of a provider (on site) for beneficiaries in order to identify a personalized and individualized prevention plan, complete with objectives and goals for patients as appropriate.

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE):

Must provide a transcript or diploma of completion of a medical assistant program.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

One to two years physicians’ office nursing experience, preferably primary care.
