The BBC is recruiting for an Executive Assistant to support the Chief People Officer, based in London. This is on a permanent, full time basis. The Chief People Officer is a member of the BBC’s Executive Committee.
The Chief People Officer's remit includes Children In Need, HR, Employee Relations, Recruitment and Reward. The division is focussed on recruiting, retaining and developing exceptional talent and passionate about making sure the BBC is a great place to work.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs Executive Assistant to the Chief People Officer, you will provide high level professional secretarial and administrative support managing an extremely busy diary. You will act as the first point of contact for enquiries at all levels and you must be a skilled communicator with experience of dealing with people from a range of backgrounds and abilities. You will be a strong advocate for the Division. This is a demanding and challenging role, working in a high pressure, fast moving environment, assessing priorities, taking the appropriate action to ensure the smooth running of the office and diary.
You will manage the Chief People Officer’s diary; review and prioritise incoming emails and documents; monitor emails; organise travel; act as first port of call for requests and enquiries for the CPO and liaise directly with a range of senior stakeholders, internal and external, on their behalf. You will be required to use initiative and judgment to prioritise, identifying issues which need immediate attention and escalating as appropriate. As well as organising meetings, you will act as a key point of co-ordination for the wider People team, organising team events, liaising with team members and team assistants on a regular basis.
Are you the right candidate?You will be a highly skilled operator with experience of working in a large, high profile, complex and often challenging environment. Proven experience of providing senior level secretarial and administrative support (e.g. Director or Divisional Board member level) is essential and you will be well versed in managing a constantly changing diary, with a proven ability to maintain your composure to remain calm, organised and focused under pressure. You will be experienced at pulling together high quality presentations and documents efficiently. You will have great attention to detail and be able to deal with change and ambiguity, while prioritising and managing competing issues. You will be digitally savvy and comfortable with different communication methods including text and WhattsApp.
Strong organisation skills and the ability to work flexibly and independently are also essential. You will be an excellent all-round communicator and will be open and approachable with a positive can-do attitude. You will also be a team player who builds rapport and is unafraid of getting their hands dirty. You will have strong influencing skills with a proven track record of handling highly confidential issues and information with tact, diplomacy and discretion.
