Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Events Manager to join TLT, UK Law Firm of the Year 2022, where your expertise will ensure our client and colleague events are delivered to a high standard and aligned with firm strategy and values. You will establish best practice - coaching and supporting colleagues, in the Marketing & Business Development team and the wider firm, to meet those standards, and you will be as comfortable delivering hybrid events as those which take place in-person.

Candidates should be located within a reasonable commuting distance to Bristol or London.

They should be prepared to travel as required to any of TLT’s offices or off-site venues to support events.


The role

This is a full-time permanent role reporting to the Senior Marketing Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Working with the Marketing & BD team, the firm’s partners and lawyers to strategically develop external and internal events where needed to meet business objectives.
  • Event planning, management and oversight of the events calendar.
  • Overseeing the delivery of events, to a consistent high standard, which are managed by the Marketing Operations Team and other Executives/Managers within the firm, often in conjunction with the reception teams in TLT’s offices
  • Developing of processes for events including in-person, virtual and hybrid events Ensuring compliance with those processes throughout the firm;
  • Determining measurements to assess the return on investment of all events and track these on an ongoing basis;
  • Monitoring expenditure and budgets on events;
  • Developing criteria for running an event and challenging proposed events if they don’t meet the requirements;
  • Investigating the technological requirements to deliver high quality hybrid events without the need for external AV support;
  • Managing high profile events for external audiences but also internal events such as the annual Partners Conference;
  • Venue research and selection, building relationships and a bank of recommended external venues;
  • Negotiating with suppliers and venues to provide cost-effective solutions and minimise risks;
  • In partnership with TLT’s Health and Safety Manager, consider risk assessments for on and off-site events we are running or exhibiting at; and
  • Identifying and monitoring competitor events, gathering information, market knowledge, and commercial relationships.
  • Flexible and willing to work after normal working hours when supporting events.

Events to be managed include:

  • In-house TLT events;
  • Co-hosted events with partner organisations;
  • TLT hosted client events: and
  • Client training.

The Events Manager would also advise on suitable corporate hospitality; dining we organise for clients/contacts on-site and off-site; and events we exhibit at and sponsor.


Your Skill and Experience

You’ll have a proven track record of developing processes for the delivery of corporate events ideally in a professional services environment. You will have experience and expertise in delivering a range of in-person, hybrid and virtual events. Candidates with an agency background would also be considered if they have worked extensively with professional services/blue chip corporate clients.

Key requirements:

  • At least 5 years’ event management experience, which includes in-person, webinar and hybrid events;
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple events/projects;
  • Experience in developing and setting KPIs and analysing return on investment of events;
  • Supplier/venue negotiation & management skills;
  • Experience selecting and managing suppliers;
  • Budget preparation, monitoring and reporting;
  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail; and
  • Experience with Vuture and Interaction would be an advantage but not essential;
  • Enthusiasm, a can-do attitude and team player
