Job description
Care Assistant - Days
Penylan House Nursing Home, Cardiff, CF23 5YG
£10.90 - £11.04 per hour
Full Time Hours Available - 38.5 hours per week
Are you looking for a rewarding job? Do you want to make a real difference to our residents’ lives?
The opportunity :
Care Assistant, Carer, Healthcare Assistant, friend, advisor, coach… the list goes on. This is one of the most rewarding roles out there, and could the first step to your lifelong career in care.
With a dedicated Learning & Development Team, we will provide all the training you need, such as All Wales Induction Framework to ensure that you succeed and excel in this role! We provide the training - we can teach you how to do the role. The only thing we can’t teach is how to be a naturally caring person.
So, if you check on your elderly neighbour, do the weekly shop for your family, help raise a family, offer to help on school trips, you have what we can’t teach and we want you to join our team.
What we need from you:
- Communication skills – this is a very social job. You will be working closely with other care assistants, nurses, domestic and kitchen assistants, so it’s important that you can communicate well, ask questions, work well with others and share ideas. Lots of our residents enjoy to chat, we are looking for care assistants who can hold meaningful discussions with them; some residents love to reminisce, chat about their families and lives, so being a good listener is also key.
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care – you will need to hold this qualification or be willing (and eager) to work towards it, with support from our dedicated learning and development team.
- Time management skills – this can be a very busy and demanding role, so you will need to manage your own time, work well as part of a team, use your own initiative to work alone and be able to prioritize your workload.
What we will offer in return:
- Full time (38.5 hours) available
- Hourly Pay: £10.90- £11.04 based on qualifications and working pattern
- Rolling rota, so you always know what days you are working each week
- 28 days holiday
- Dedicated Learning & Development team to support with any training needs
- Free onsite parking
- Pension
- Flexible working patterns (two week rolling rota)
- Near good transport links
- Free Uniform
- Free DBS
- Free meal
- Opportunity for progression
- Perkbox discounts
- Access to Blue Light Card Scheme
- Wellbeing advice
- Reimbursement of Social Care Wales registration fee for 2022
