About the Role
The Events and Engagement Manager will be responsible for managing an annual programme of stakeholder engagement events and devising impactful events that will support and enhance SIA’s strategic objectives.
The jobholder will take overall responsibility for the design of key events both digital and face to face, including the annual SIA National Conference
Job description
What you will be doing:
- Assist the Head of Communications and strategic leads within the SIA to develop and deliver an engaging and thought leading programme of events and initiatives targeted at the SIA’s stakeholder community
- Assist the Director of Corporate Services on the development of engaging employee wellbeing strategies and events
- Support the SIA’s internal engagement activities including internal communications and leadership events
- Lead and project manage the design and delivery of the SIA’s external events and ensure they are delivered within the agreed timescales and budgets
- Coordinate the development of targeted briefing packs, speakers notes and promotional material and online activity and ensure event content is relevant timely and accessible and adds value to the SIA’s key audiences
- Assist the Head of Communications to manage the events budget and invoicing
- Coordinate the SIA’s events calendar and ensure SIA participation and visibility at key industry and stakeholder events
- Liaise and negotiate with venue owners and third-party suppliers
- Develop strong working relationships with SIA regional teams and work stream leads to influence what is required for the delivery of successful events
- Manage the evaluation of events including post event reports to ensure best practices standards are met
- Ensure Health and Safety standards are adhered to in the planning of these events
- Liaise with team leads across the organisation to develop and keep an up-to-date diary of SIA led events to limit clashes and conflicts
- As required, attend events to provide logistical support to the event owner, including direct contact with delegates.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested from time to time by the Head of Communications.

What skills are we looking for?
- Strong Analytical, Interpretation, and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal) and confidence to interact with management on a regular basis.
- Experience of working collaboratively with the ability to question and challenge thinking in a proactive manner that draws out key issues and questions whilst maintaining professional relationships
- Ability to plan and organise project assurance reviews with stakeholders across the business.
- Ability to draw information from a wide range of sources and coordinate the information into coherent output.
- Ability to work under own initiative and be creative in tackling challenges and finding solutions.
- Fluent and competent in discussing risks, risk appetite, categories of risks, and articulating the types of mitigations / controls and their respective impacts on reducing risks.
- Proficient in the use of Sharepoint and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel.
- Communication and influencing skills – Confident and enjoys working with team members and senior business stakeholders.
It would be great if you have experience in these areas:
- Demonstrable previous experience in event management
- Stakeholder engagement and promotional experience
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and calm especially when problem solving or under pressure
- Able to work as part of a team and take the lead when required
- Ability to recognise and challenge inefficiencies in processes
- The confidence to liaise with, speakers, senior officials senior staff, non-executive directors and stakeholders
- High level of numeracy and computer literacy, including comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel to intermediate/advanced level, and SharePoint.
- Proven ability to prioritise and schedule work assignments to include the writing, owning and execution of event plans.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
