Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs)
Various Locations (Detailed below)
Permanent and fixed term, full time (Open to part time applications)
Variable shifts (6 on 3 off rotating shift pattern covering 8am to 10pm, Mon to Sun)
About the role
PCSOs play an important role in keeping Essex a safe place to live, work and visit.
If you take on this challenging but rewarding job, your distinctive uniform will quickly make you a familiar face in the community.
You'll be a highly visible point of contact, working in the heart of the community, putting the public first and helping to prevent crime, disorder and antisocial behaviour.
A Full time contract will a 37 hour working week, which will comprise of a 6 on 3 off shift pattern of early and late shifts covering the period 8.00 am to 10.00 pm, 7 days per week, for which a 12.5% shift allowance and weekend working enhancements are payable. Part time Contracts will vary.
All new PCSOs are fully supported in their training and development during their first year. This includes a learning portfolio which you'll be expected to complete within your first 12 months of service.
Please note: if you are appointed as a PCSO, you may be posted to any location within Essex depending on the Force’s operational requirements.
Location of current roles are:
North LPA: Especially Frinton and Walton
West LPA: Harlow, Brentwood and Loughton (Buckhurst Hill)

About you
You'll need to be responsible, and used to dealing with and resolving conflicts. You should be good at problem solving and making decisions using your excellent analysis skills, and have excellent communication skills.
You’ll also be highly flexible and self-motivated.

The recruitment process
When we have received your completed application form we will shortlist against the stated criteria. Eligibility checks will then be completed and anyone who passes this will be booked into the Two Stage Assessment process, which is made of a written test and Interview.
If you are successful on the assessment process you will be invited to undertake medical screening and uniform fitting. Details of which will be sent to you at the appropriate time in the process.
Pre-employment checks will commence for all candidates following successful completion of the entire recruitment process.
The training course will be held at Essex Police College February 2023. You will need to be available for the entirety of this 5 week course (Mon-Fri).
The closing date for this role is 27.03.2023.
