Ground Transportation Systems UK (GTS) are helping to shape the future of the rail industry in the UK. We specialise in signalling and communication, collaborating with the biggest names in the industry to deliver the rail of the future. This role is expected to transition to Hitachi Rail as part of the transfer of ownership of GTS from Thales.
Our Opportunity
We are currently looking for an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Effectiveness Lead (EDI) to join our Social Value team based in London. You will work closely with HR, HSE and the wider business to help devise and implement our strategy, continue to develop our EDI maturity and play a leading role in developing best practice and attaining accreditations. You will work within our Social Value team who are already a key driving force behind our CSR, sustainability and outreach events as well as our external charitable partnerships.
We’re looking for someone who is passionate and able to help us achieve our goals, by driving us forward and increasing our internal awareness. This role would suit someone early on in their career who is looking to step into a semi-autonomous role within a large, complex corporate environment.
This role can be located out of one of our offices in London – St Katherine’s Dock, Beckton or Stratford.
Key Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  • Actively participate in the strategy implementation for EDI and support the roll out of Social Value initiatives
  • Coordinate and drive the EDI Plan
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure active participation throughout the organisation
  • Build empathy with GTS employees, understanding what they think, what drives their behaviours and what initiatives they would like to see
  • Play a leading role in EDI training and awareness for all staff, contractors and ,on occasion, 3rd party contractors through the supply chain
  • Own, develop, monitor and interpret engagement, inclusion and Social Value metrics to enable us to understand our employees and networks
  • Work with Project and Bid teams to ensure we deliver upon our EDI commitments
  • Form a strong, concise, joint EDI and Social Value message
Technical Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience in an EDI role or similar
  • Confident in working at all levels, including senior stakeholders, bringing insight and challenging as appropriate
  • Previous experience of managing campaigns and external award nominations
  • Strong Excel skills and proven ability to work with data to create accurate, fit for purpose reports to support business decision making
  • Previous experience / desire to learn the managing of external accreditations/assessments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to produce high standard written documentation
  • Strong attention to detail, strong organisational and time management skills
  • Able to conduct research and apply learnings to improve GTS UK’s approach to EDI
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills

Qualifications:
  • Good GCSEs in English and Mathematics
  • Proficient in the Microsoft office suite, particularly Powerpoint and Excel
  • Attained or working towards professional EDI accreditations would be an advantage but not essential
