Job description
Oxford is widely recognised as one of the world’s leading science universities and our Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences (MPLS) Division is home to 9 academic departments that span the full spectrum of the mathematical, computational, physical, engineering and life sciences. We play a major role in training the next generation of leading scientists and Oxford’s international reputation for excellence in teaching is reflected in its position at the top of the major league tables and subject assessments.
The Head of Education Policy and Planning is the senior officer responsible for education policy, quality assurance, and the leadership and management of the Academic Office in the MPLS Division. They work closely with the teaching and academic administration teams in our departments as well as with a wide range of colleagues in the University’s central services and other academic divisions.
We have some 7,300 students on taught and research programmes, including: 4,000 undergraduates, mostly on four-year Integrated Master’s degrees; 200 on postgraduate taught courses; and 2,700 research students, as well as 400 part-time students on professional Masters courses.
As Head of Education Policy and Planning, you will provide first-class strategic planning, policy development and operational management support to the Divisional Registrar (the division’s Chief Operating Officer), the Associate Head of Division (Education) and the Head of Division. This exciting opportunity will require you to bring excellent management, organisational, communication and influencing skills.
This key leadership role is available at a particularly exciting and challenging time, as we refresh our portfolio of centres for doctoral training, reposition for new course development opportunities, and continue to support access initiatives to admit the very best students to our programmes.
Interviews will be held on 14th April 2023
