We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will champion Equality, Diversity & Inclusion across the various Divisions within the business while delivering expert advice, support, and guidance to our project teams. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Head of Equality, Diversity & FIR in the development and implementation of strategic policies, practices, and action plans in relation to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion aligned to our organisational values and pillars.
The EDI (FIR) Lead will support the Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion to ensure that GRAHAM is externally recognised as the leading and preferred employer of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion within the Construction industry. The individual will liaise with internal and external partners to attract, develop, and retain a pipeline of talent for the future. Whilst engaging and supporting our existing workforce.
You will work in partnership with the business to create and implement interventions to ensure the GRAHAM FIR strategy is successful, adds value and supports an inclusive environment which benefits our people, business, external stakeholders, and wider society.You will join an expanding team and will be encouraged to bring your ideas and experience to the table. You will be passionate about delivering authentic change and you will demonstrate role modelling behaviours to influence and engage a broad remit of internal and external stakeholders. You will have:
Above all the EDI (FIR) Lead will actively engage with all our people - including over 100 FIR ambassadors - to ensure they are engaged and aware of their responsibility for fairness, inclusion, and respect.
Travel between regional offices and project locations will be required on a regular basis. Occasionally there may be a requirement to work outside normal working hours to attend evening meetings or events.
Key Duties:
- Collaborate with internal diversity experts and external providers to manage programmes and events related to inclusive outreach and recruitment
- Working with the Marketing and Internal Communications teams to raise awareness and engage our people
- Linking with the HR Team in managing and supporting FIR initiatives
- Supporting the Head of Equality, Diversity and FIR in developing appropriate content for FIR communication campaigns
- Implementing, managing, and reporting on the progress of FIR initiatives
- Reporting on individual progress and programme effectiveness
- Supporting the Divisions to celebrate the success of FIR activities
- Work closely with FIR Ambassadors and other staff across the business to ensure processes and systems align with their individual business strategies
- Actively work with FIR Ambassadors to ensure that they are fully aware of the FIR strategy and their role in delivering that strategy
- Any other duties as requested
- A demonstrable commitment to promoting equality and diversity in the workplace
- Experience of developing effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders
- Experience of working in an EDI (FIR) role within a medium to large organisation
- The ability to positively engage and motivate others
- A naturally collaborative style to work with other teams such as Learning and Development to ensure there is a growing level of education of EDI for the business
- Cultural sensitivity and personal awareness and the ability to challenge thinking and perspectives
- Flexibility to work in multi-disciplinary teams and meet changing requirements
- The ability to establish relationships with external groups and other relevant third-party organisations
- The confidence to support and lead, where appropriate on diversity initiatives and a natural desire to share best practice whilst maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of equality legislation
- The ability to enable and guide existing networks and local working groups
- A data driven mindset and experience of using data and insights to inform FIR strategy and action planning
- Excellent IT, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple workloads and resources to deliver to deadlines
- Demonstrate effective team working skills and strong presentation skills
- Confidence, clear and professional verbal, and written communication
- The ability and willingness to travel throughout the UK to attend in-house and external events
- Experience working within a Construction setting
- Experience in a HR / EDI role
