Role overview
Working with the HR&T Director and the rest of the senior management teams will lead on implementing our ED&I plan to ensure that we meet the business ED&I vision. The post holder will also be required to provide EDI advice and expertise to colleagues across the wider organisation to help to ensure that EDI is embedded in all parts of the business in line with our strategy and best practice.
Key responsibilities will include:
Drive delivery of the ED&I Strategy, implementing actions as laid out in the Action Plan and identifying/developing further actions to meet the aims of the Strategy as appropriate (Strategy aims include: reducing discriminatory behaviours; addressing any racial inequities in the business; raising awareness of equality duties; supporting inclusive leadership; providing guidance on diversity and fairness in recruitment; providing advice on addressing our Gender Pay Gap; and ensuring policies align with existing good practice);- Build relationships with staff in key teams to support roll out of actions and interventions.
- Liaise with external suppliers to support delivery of the Action Plan and related activity.
- Lead ED&I communications and awareness raising across the business.
- Act as key point of business engagement for the ED&I Steering Group, providing timely updates to the group on ED&I plans and activity to providing opportunities for their feedback, suggestions and involvement.
- Hold responsibility for ED&I monitoring and evaluation across the business, working with relevant colleagues to track representation, and equity in processes and outcomes.
- Provide regular reports on ED&I data and activity to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide ad-hoc ED&I-related advice, guidance or support as required by the business.
Essential qualification, knowledge and skills required:
Essential:
In-depth knowledge and application of equality legislation.- Experience of taking a collaborative, inclusive and proactive approach to ED&I work.
- Evidence of implementing equality, diversity and inclusion projects
- Knowledge and understanding of the context of and challenges facing the rail sector.
- Excellent relationship building, networking and influencing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including report writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to present, analyse and use data.
- Excellent IT skills with confidence in the use and application of IT solutions to promote effective working.
- Experience of successfully chairing and facilitating meetings and focus groups.
- Experience of organising and prioritising work without the need for direct supervision, and managing multiple work streams whilst meeting deadlines.
Desirable:
Experience of developing strategy/policy documents.- Experience of developing and/or delivering ED&I-related training
