About us:
Often referred to as a rural department store, Gates is a large garden centre on the Rutland / Leicestershire border that offers over 12,500 square metres of retail and leisure facilities. You’ll find everything from indoor and outdoor plants, garden products, water features, pots, planters and garden tools; to patio furniture, barbecues, clothing, gifts, homeware and pet care.
There’s also a large, well-stocked farm shop, restaurant with sunny balcony, cosy coffee shop, a popular outdoor play area for children, dedicated dog walking field and concessions selling aquatics, garden buildings, hot tubs, kitchens, kitchenware, clothing and footwear.
Established in 1948 by Fred and Ivy Gates, the garden centre was originally created within the walls of a large Victorian kitchen garden belonging to Cold Overton Hall. Still on the same site today, the centre has expanded considerably over the years, but still retains its traditional family values of excellent customer service, quality and value.
