Environmental Specialist
Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area
Salary: £33,300 – £49,950 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

The main responsibilities for the role are:
  • Supporting scheduling of monitoring and the production of quarterly and compliance reports to be distributed to the Environment Agency
  • Processing, interpreting, and reporting measurement test data of required quality standard to specified timescales
  • Satisfying all legislative, regulatory and stakeholder requirements
  • Supporting sampling surveys, to include sample collection and in field measurements using a range of instrumentation
  • Assisting in programme reviews, development, innovations, and implementation
  • Understanding and applying Company Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
  • Supporting co-ordinations for the waste characterisation programme, e.g. planning and scheduling programme elements, and managing tasking (customer agreements) for assessment surveys, monitoring, and analytical requirement for radiological and chemical measurements
We would be interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate knowledge or experience in some of the following:
  • Degree (or equivalent) relating to environmental science or similar
  • Understanding of radiological and chemical measurement
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to liaise with other team members, customers and other stakeholders
  • Ability to handle and interpret data
  • Ability to organise and schedule work
  • Good IT skills essential
  • A level of literacy and numeracy to enable completion of regulatory reports
  • Be able to work on their own and with others to achieve specific deliverables to specified timescales
  • Basic laboratory experience (not essential)
  • Knowledge of safety paperwork including COSHH, risk and manual handling assessments
Candidates must be willing to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role
