Purpose of the Role
Metrocentre are seeking to recruit a full-time Environmental Assistant to work as part of the nightshift cleaning team. Key duties will include using a variety of cleaning equipment, scrubber dryers, rotary scrubbers, pressure washers, and vacuum cleaning machines. In addition, the Environmental Assistants will ensure that all waste is dealt with appropriately and all bins are emptied and cleaned in line with set procedures. Environmental Assistants will also be required to ensure that sanitary areas are maintained to the highest standard and supplies are replenished as required.
Successful candidates will be professional in their approach to the delivery of a customer focused cleaning role, demonstrating professional and courteous behaviour in the execution of their cleaning duties. It is expected that the successful candidate will also comply with all health and safety procedures at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- To deliver all cleaning and waste operations within the shopping centre.
- Provide excellent customer service to all customers
- Use of scrubber/dryer, rotary scrubber, escalator cleaner, pressure washers, road sweepers & gritter’s amongst others.
- Cleaning car parks, service roads, and back of house areas
- Sweeping, mopping and cleaning floors (both FOH and BOH)
- Cleaning public and staff toilets (both male and female)
- Emptying bins and removing rubbish
- Operating waste compactors and balers
- General cleaning duties around the centre to meet with periodic schedules
- Gritting of centre during winter maintenance period
- Compliance with all work related Health and Safety regulations at all times
- Any other reasonable task requested by a member of the supervisory/management team
- Assist with the delivery of centre objectives
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Enthusiastic to learn and work as part of a team
- Positive ‘can do’ attitude with the ability to show initiative
- Experience in using various cleaning machines and equipment
- To be able to communicate with the public at all levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of COSHH
Desirable:
- BICS training
- NVQ level 1 cleaning
- Full clean driving licence
Working Hours - 40 hours (5 days over 7 – Nightshift)
