Environmental Officer

Base: Manby, Newark or Epworth

£32,676 to £36,132

Full Time, Permanent

37 hours per week

As part of our succession planning, we are recruiting for an Ecologist to work alongside the current Environmental Officer over the next 12 months before taking on the role fully.

The Water Management Consortium has played a key role in supporting and improving the natural environment across the four Boards’ areas, with great success in conserving water voles and barn owls across Lincolnshire and the Trent Valley. We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic individual to join and build on this work, supporting the Boards to embed environmental improvement within their capital and maintenance programmes.

This post combines practical skills, fieldwork, knowledge of wildlife legislation, administrative ability, presentation skills and the ability to interact with and hold the confidence of a wide range of people.

The post holder will work closely with the operational and engineering teams to identify, develop and achieve outcomes that reduce flood risk, enhance water level management and ensure that the environmental aims of the Boards are delivered and benefit biodiversity. The role will also involve working with other organisations and effectively engaging with members of the public and landowners on behalf of the Boards.

Applicants should hold a Degree or HND in ecology or a related subject and/or have experience in ecology or practical conservation. They should hold or be working towards, Associate Membership (or above) with the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management or a similar professional institute.
