We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated colleague to join our technical team supporting our Crime Scene and Forensic Science programmes. In this role you will provide technical support to the School’s activities, including assistance to academic staff, students and other individuals in the use of technical equipment, laboratories, scenarios, workshops and materials.

It is essential that you have an HND or equivalent in an appropriate discipline, or a proven period of appropriate practical experience and a willingness to participate in relevant training commensurate with the role. Experience of developing, installing, maintaining and operating specialist technical equipment is required, as is experience, knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues and their implementation in the working environment.

It is essential to have experience of techniques and processes relevant to the specialist area such as but not exclusively: Chemical and Optical Enhancement; Trace Evidence Recovery and Examination; Data Recording and Analysis.

You must have experience of teamwork, including in a multi-disciplinary scientific environment as well as have the ability to prioritise own workload effectively and use initiative to identify and resolve operational problems

You must have proven IT skills including experience of Microsoft applications, i.e. Excel, Word databases, and relevant practice -based software including the use of planning tools for effective time management and resource allocation.
