Due to the continued growth of the Iron Mountain Data Center business globally we currently have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health and Safety Associate to join our expanding global team. The role will be based in Slough, united Kingdom.
The EHS Associate will manage the development and implementation of an effective Environmental Health and Safety strategy for the data centers; to mitigate risk, and safeguard personnel, company and customer information, physical assets, and the Iron Mountain brand.
The EHS Associate will execute daily management of the Iron Mountain Data Center (IMDC) environmental health and safety program to align it with IMDC and corporate objectives, policies, and standards. They will partner with contractors, and other functions within the site. This position will ensure that all elements of compliance to EHS regulations including; local, state, and federal requirements.
The right person enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and be committed to building collaborative relationships with contractors and operations to facilitate overall implementation of the health and safety program. This position will primarily be working in a construction environment and will directly report to the Sr. Manager of Global Health and Safety with dotted lines to the Operations Director and Head of NA Construction Director.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with contractors and site leadership with a collaborative approach to implementation of site EHS regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee, inspect, audit EHS compliance within construction activities; drive continuous improvements through control implementation for identified risks.
- Lead, attend, coordinate meetings with contractors and site leadership to drive accountability and risk identification within HRW activities.
- Conduct incident response and investigations for assigned IMDC site in coordination with Iron Mountain Global Safety, Risk, and Security (GSRS) management.
- Provide a thorough analysis of EHS risks and the development of appropriate mitigating strategies.
- Collaborate and contribute to the creation of EHS policies and procedures within IMDC global EHS strategy.
- Coordinate Emergency Response and related evacuation planning and drills.
- Provide timely reports on identified EHS trends and risks, concern reports, near misses, and other incidents within the IMDC assigned site.
- Must be able to appropriately and effectively communicate and facilitate walkthroughs with any regulatory authority.
- Manage EHS management system for contractor validation and verification.
- Assign, manage, and ensure accuracy of EHS penalties/ incentives to contractors within contractual scopes.
- Run projects and other assigned duties as needed.
Key Skills, Requirements, and Competencies:
- Experience in / exposure to Construction Safety.
- Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of Environmental Permits, and other regulations.
- Ability to facilitate and diffuse crucial conversations
- Must be able to multitask effectively during busy times, exercise patience, and professionalism during stressful situations.
- Computer experience (GSuite preferred), able to create and manipulate spreadsheet information.
- Candidates need to possess the skills to deliver professional, helpful, high-quality service meeting the needs and desires of our customers.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, administrative, and communication skills, as well as strong leadership traits in order to deal effectively with colleagues, visitors, and customers.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with governmental regulatory authorities.
