About the role:
Horsham District Council are looking for an Environmental Health & Licensing Assistant to provide technical and administrative support to the Environmental Health and Licensing department and assist in the provision of an effective, efficient and economic service for the Council.
As Environmental Health & Licensing Assistant you will be the first point of contact for members of the public, businesses and other organisations providing technical advice and guidance on environmental health and licensing functions. You will determine if requests for service are actionable and resolve issues where possible within the appropriate legislative framework or arrange for further action to be taken and make recommendations concerning the granting, renewal, suspension and revocation of licences/permits to the Head of Environmental Health and Licensing, and to issue licences/permits. In addition, you will be responsible for an individual caseload in relation to a specific technical specialised area of work providing information and answering queries appropriately within legislative framework.
About you:
To succeed as Environmental Health & Licensing Assistant you will have proven ability to communicate with a range of people from different backgrounds, including ethnic, social and professional, both verbally and in writing. You will have experience working with a diverse group of people, preferably in a customer facing and team environment. You will be a competent IT user, and have the ability to use and develop different packages and systems. You will have proven organisational and time management skills and an awareness of the legislation and procedures which are the responsibility of the department.
