The University will pay a supplement per annum pro rata to spine point 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, with effect from 1st February 2023, to align with the Real Living Wage (RLW) which equates to £21,400 p.a. This RLW supplement will be reviewed annually to take account of future increases and RLW rates.

There is an expectation that work will be undertaken in the UK.

This role is not eligible for sponsorship. Applicants require to have existing right to work in the UK.

The Post


As key members of the wider University Enterprise Team, the Enterprise Programme Interns will make a substantial contribution to the development, delivery, and promotion of the Enterprise Programme’s 2023/2024 activities, events and services through provision of professional and proactive support of programming. The role-holders will encourage and support student, staff, and recent alumni to explore entrepreneurship and engage in programming. They will champion a ‘can-do’ spirit and serve as ambassadors for the Enterprise Programme across campus and within the broader community.


Description of Duties

  • Contribute to the planning of the Enterprise Programme’s events and activities
  • Organise and facilitate virtual and in-person events, such as workshops, webinars, discussion panels, in-class info sessions, competitions, etc. (primarily scheduled on Wednesday or Thursday evenings)
  • Organise materials for use at virtual and in-person events (such as registration forms, session handouts, information sheets, competition forms, etc.)
  • Plan and deliver virtual and in-person promotional activities (such as presenting at lectures, representing the Enterprise Programme at University of Stirling “Be Connected” events, and developing promotional materials)
  • Develop and maintain the Programme's social media presence to raise awareness and build engagement (particularly via Twitter and LinkedIn)
  • Monitor and record participant engagement across the Programme’s activities.
  • Undertake such other duties as may be required, commensurate with the grade and nature of the role

Essential Criteria
  • A current student or recent graduate (within 12 months of degree award date) of the University of Stirling
  • Positive, professional, creative and flexible approach
  • Excellent understanding of, and commitment to, collaborative team working.
  • Skills and experience in events organisation and delivery
  • Ability to work effectively on an individual basis and as part of a very busy team
  • IT literate with particular competence utilising MS Teams and MS Office
  • High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently and work effectively with a diverse range of students, alumni, academic and professional service colleagues, as well as external stakeholders
  • A sound understanding of, and experience utilising, social media platforms for promotional purposes; particularly Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Attention to detail

Desirable Criteria
  • Knowledge of entrepreneurship or employability, particularly in a university context
  • Knowledge of subject areas such as marketing, communications, media, business management, law or social enterprise
  • Work/voluntary experience in a role which improves the student experience (for example Student Ambassador, society committee member, student internship, etc.)
  • Confident public speaker and comfortable engaging with a variety of audiences

The Enterprise Programme is a cross-university service based within Innovation & Enterprise Services in the Directorate of Research, Innovation & Business Engagement (RIBE). The Programme enables students, staff, recent alumni, and eligible community members to explore their entrepreneurial potential, develop skills, test ideas, create and grow businesses and drive innovation. Translating learning, teaching, and research outcomes into impact are priorities for the institution and are supported by the Enterprise Programme’s comprehensive offering. Structured across three activity streams, individuals can access a range of free skills training, 1-2-1 advice, inspiring events, pre-accelerators and funding opportunities. The Programme also runs a campus-based incubator, The Hive, in which eligible new businesses can develop and grow as part of a vibrant and supportive start-up community.

Championing the institution’s ethos, the Programme aims to empower members of the University community to make a difference through innovation and enterprise activity at home and beyond.

Delivery of a range of transformational projects within the University's City Region and Growth Deal programme is embedded within the Directorate of Research, Innovation & Business Engagement (RIBE). The Enterprise Team work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to support enterprise activity within the City Region Deal programmes.
