Job description
The successful postholder will be an integral member of the Department’s existing Laboratory services team. Based in Laboratories within the Engineering Heartspace you will collaborate with the Engineering Team Leader and other Laboratory services technicians. The postholder will provide technical expertise to undergraduate projects, postgraduate projects and other collaborators within the Faculty of Engineering.
This position will require outstanding “customer” service skills and the ability to react to constantly evolving demands of a lively research environment, the postholder will take ownership for supporting the Department’s varied research groups including, but not limited to the Human Interaction, Tribology, Dynamics and Thermofluids, working independently as well as part of a team to provide specialist knowledge in the design, manufacture and commissioning of components and specialist equipment for research and teaching activities.
You will also be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of laboratories ensuring they continue to be recognized for their customer service excellence whilst also maintaining outstanding Health and Safety standards.
It is envisaged that this role will be 40% workshop based and 60% laboratory based.
Hands on Mechanical workshop skills are crucial to be successful in this role.
