Job description
JOB SUMMARY:
As an Engineering Technician I for CERM, you will complete projects by executing the duties outlined in the project plan ensuring that technical management and document retention standards are achieved on each assignment. You will support Project Managers and Technical Leads on various projects at the operational level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Job Functions:
- Perform soil, concrete and asphalt tests plus other tests as assigned. Check and maintain equipment as needed. Perform simple repairs such as replace parts on a wheel barrel or pressure meter
- Generate complete, clear, timely, and accurate testing and inspection reports, time sheets, and expense reports
- Obtain information about testing requirements and locations from the plans and specifications.
- Provide good housekeeping in the field and the office
- Analyze and synthesize information
- Provide solutions along with problems to project manager
- Perform other duties as required
Accounting/Budgeting Activities:
- Ascertain budgeted hours for project activities from project manager
- Notify Project Manager and Project Specialist when allocated project hours have been reached
Business Development Activities:
- Look for opportunities to up sale and sale other services
- Provide Project/ Section Manager with business opportunity leads
Leadership/Management Activities:
- Set good example to other employees and internal and external clients
- Maintain equipment (inventory, maintenance, calibration) to include providing leadership on technical operations
- Develop and maintains accurate field data and project documentation
- Provide specialization vendors with project information as directed by the Project Specialist
Quality Assurance/ Risk Management:
- Ascertain project assurance plan from Project Specialist/Manager
- Monitor field activities for project assurance plan compliance
- Report any significant risk exposures or occurrence to Project Manager through Project Specialist in writing
- Work with project management team to develop mitigation recommendations for documented risk exposures
- Follow safety procedures as outlined in the Project Safety Plan
Technical Activities
- Maintain current certifications and acquire additional certifications relevant to CERM’s business groups
Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Required Experience
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience
- High school diploma/General Equivalency Diploma(GED)
- 2 years of experience as an engineering technician
LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS:
- NICET, ACI, and ICC certifications or equivalent required
- Able to earn concrete certification within 90-days and soil certification within 90 days
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License required and maintain a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company policy standards
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequently required to stand up to eight hours or more at a time
- Required to walk in rugged conditions
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- Occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Frequently works in outside weather conditions
- Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
- The noise level in the work environment is often loud
- Travel, evening, night, weekend, and holiday hours may be required
