Main Responsibilities
You will be delivering engineering and assurance activities for the fleet to be fit-for-purpose and compliant with relevant legislation and standards.
You will support fleet engineering works which support the continuous improvement of the fleet and enhance capabilities which meet business objectives of the customer.
- Provide specialist technical input into the sourcing and delivery of construction, maintenance, repair, modifications and overhaul of fleet assets ensuring that works meet all legislation and standards.
- Provide specialist technical input into the production of engineering specifications and contract negotiations for fleet assets to meet customer requirements legislation and standards.
- Identify improvements to the fleet to increase safety, performance and capability through changes to processes, procedures, instructions, working practices and physical modifications.
- Provide specialist input to development and implement of engineering management, assurance systems and asset strategy which are complaint with relevant standards and legislation, undertake audit programmes and investigations as required.
- Provide technical input into contract and service level management; monitoring of key performance indicators and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers and key internal departments.
- Support assurance activities for fleets including; production of maintenance plans, management of asset data, performance monitoring and management of change.
- Manage own competence and development plan; including knowledge of; design, maintenance, overhaul, modification, projects management and approvals of the fleet.
- Identify and manage the resolution of engineering issues, prioritisation of tasks and, where necessary, escalate where they have the potential to impact on service delivery.
- Support the development of other engineers within the fleet community by mentoring / coaching.
You will have the following:
Essential
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification or demonstrate equivalent experience (Level 4 / 5)
- Substantial experience in a relevant engineering area
- Sound knowledge of relevant policies and standards
- An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
- Able to use engineering data to make critical decisions.
- Interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
- Degree in a relevant subject (Level 6)
- Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer
- Project management experience and awareness of project management techniques
- Railway industry experience.

The positions is based in Milton Keynes, with possibility of remote/flexible working as required.
Salary range: £41,711 to £46,925 per annum - 35 hours a week
