Job Description Summary

Known internally as a Engineering Project Manager (EPM), this a great opportunity to join our Aircraft Services Business. As a key member of the Engineering team, the EPM is responsible for leading the product development team to meet all program milestones as defined at project inception. EPMs must have knowledge of the design and development life cycle and owns the planning, technical customer engagement, and ensures engineering deliverables are met within schedule, cost, and quality. The EPM ensures compliance with GE’s procedures and processes. This position requires strong interpersonal communication skills and coordination with the Engineering teams and other business functions, as well as the customer.

Essential Responsibilities

As an EPM in the Aircraft Services department, you will:

  • Accountable to plan and deliver the scope of work to the original cost, schedule, quality and contractual deliverables.
  • Interfaces with internal/external stakeholders to ensure resources are allocated to execute your projects.
  • Managing Risks/Opportunities and implementing strategies to mitigate/capture them within your project.
  • Manages schedule, budget, and integration of NPI and/or sustainment projects, including influencing the project teams to meet customer milestones and hit tollgate milestones.
  • Provide clear communication and financial reporting of project health to the business and enable appropriate action to be taken in the event of any issues.
  • Provide clear communication of product development release activities.
  • Uses sound judgment and proposes solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated issues with technical team and/or other stakeholders.
  • Acts to resolve conflict resolution and developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics.
  • Provides estimates to support Bids and Proposal activities and be responsible for the Basis of Estimate.
  • Contribute to the Aircraft Services technology roadmap that enables value and growth across the product portfolio.
  • Point of escalation for customer support activities and service desk queries.
  • Manage third party suppliers and invoicing of costs associated with the Engineering execution of the project.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires experience in Avionics, Software Product Development & Project Management.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or Project Management or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management and how to manage key performance indicators
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
  • Proficient with MS Project
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), or equivalent desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge and experience of Cloud services, preferably (Microsoft Azure services and technologies).
  • Experience creating project management plans and budget work packages
  • Limited travel may be required, dependent on contractual requirements.
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies and frameworks desired (DSDM, Scrum, Kanban, Lean)

Qualifications / Requirements

Strong technical or engineering based knowledge of software solutions, development, infrastructure and security best practices.

This shows a knowledge of working with complex software systems and industry best practice.

An appropriate degree or HND in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology Engineering or Computer Science or similar, or equivalent experience; shows a logical mindset, alongside good problem solving and solution building skills.

Desired Characteristics

You will be required to work in a team environment, so good written and verbal communication skills will make you (& the team) most effective. You will be asked to participate in technical reviews within the Aircraft Services team to share technical knowledge and solutions, as well to the end customers. A positive attitude, initiative, pro-activeness and an enthusiasm and passion for engineering will help you succeed in the department.

Familiarity with tools such as DOORS, Rally, Azure DevOps, Jira, as well as experience with continuous Integration, Build and Test practices would also be advantageous as we continue to improve our product portfolio and the way we develop software solutions.
